How to add subtitles to your video
YouTube
Upload your video
- Navigate to the ‘Video elements’ tab
- Select ‘Add subtitles’
- Select English from the language menu
- Select ‘Create new subtitles or cc’
- Select ‘English (automatic)’ under ‘Published’
- Review the text to make sure it is accurate, edit if necessary
- Click ‘Publish’
Instagram
You need to use a phone to upload video to Instagram, rather than a computer. You also need to add the captions to your video before you upload it to Instagram.
- Upload your video to a free video editor like Kapwing
- Review the text and timings to make sure it is accurate, edit if necessary
- Download the updated file
- Open Instagram, press the + sign and upload your subtitled video
Facebook
- Upload your video and save as a draft
- Select ‘edit video’
- Click the ‘Captions’ tab
- Select ‘Generate’ to automatically generate captions
- Review the text to make sure it is accurate, edit if necessary
- Select ‘Save to video’
Twitter
- Upload your video to Facebook, YouTube or Kapwing to autogenerate your subtitle file
- Download the srt. file
- Upload your video to Twitter
- Open Media Studio (in settings)
- Select your video
- Click the ‘Subtitles’ tab
- Select English from the dropdown menu of languages
- Upload the srt. file
- Click the pencil icon to update your video
