I live with learning disabilities, autism and epilepsy. Before coming here I had always lived with my parents in my childhood home.
My Mum passed away in 2013 and then it was just my Dad and me, before I moved here four years later.
Soon after moving in, my support workers came up with a personalised support plan for me, based on what my preferences were. This has been great as I can receive help in the areas I feel I need it most.
I’m so much more independent now. I joined a community programme that helps people to improve their skills and qualifications, and now I’m really confident in looking after my finances. It also supported me to connect with the local community.
Before living here I struggled with looking after myself, so I would probably still be having issues with that. I also relied on my Dad to do lots of things for me.
I am so pleased with how I’ve developed since living here, and so is my Dad. I’ve got lots more confidence and I feel the staff here are helping me to fulfil my potential.
