Rob’s story

Rob has completed a course in D.J. skills which supports his love of music and pop concerts.

In 2006, Rob moved into a Mosscare St Vincent’s supported living scheme in Kearsley. Rob is one of six residents with severe learning difficulties who reside at the scheme.

Before he moved to Darren Court, Rob suffered from a number of mental and physical health issues but in recent years a dramatic transformation has taken place. With support from staff members at Community Care Options and health professionals Rob has become so much happier and more settled. He has decorated his flat with mementoes that are personal to him and has completed a course in D.J. skills which supports his love of music and pop concerts! He has been involved in cooking, become much healthier and has developed much more positive relationships with those around him.

Darren Court not only offers 24 hour support but importantly allows residents to keep their independence at the same time. There is a communal area which gives residents the opportunity to socialise and it is this combination of independence and support that has, incredibly, enabled Rob to begin a work placement within the community.

Help raise awareness

Thousands of people have gained their independence through supported housing. The Starts at Home campaign aims to ensure that people who need extra support will always have a home that meets their needs.
