Jim (not his real name) moved into Meadowfield House with his wife in May 2020 during the early days of the pandemic. Before moving in, Jim and his wife had been living in a care home due to his wife’s care needs. His wife’s placement was funded but Jim needed to pay the care home fees for himself so he could continue to live with his wife.
Due to government coronavirus guidance, Meadowfield House was closed to visitors and unable to take new admissions unless under exceptional circumstances. As the couple were in need of help, staff at the scheme did all they could to help them move in as safely as possible.
They worked closely with the couple, their family and the care team to agree what needed to be done and arrange the move in a way that ensured everyone’s safety. Everything went to plan on the day of the move. Jim and his wife were extremely happy and grateful that they had been allowed to move during such extreme circumstances.
Sadly, after a short period of time, Jim’s wife’s health deteriorated and she sadly passed away.
Jim is so thankful that they moved. He says his wife loved every minute of her time with him and he is eternally grateful for the time they had together.
