Daniel’s story

"Supported housing means help and guidance for the future."

My child’s mother lives in a supported scheme with Nehemiah UCHA with my child. They have lived in supported housing since November 2015.

At the scheme they encourage a family environment. “It feels safe and is a happy environment for my child, his mother and also myself. The staff are always happy to help and sort any issues you have or might have. I am currently unemployed due to mental health but, Lorna the Scheme Manager signed me up to talent match which has vastly improved my life and well being. It’s made me mentally ready to work. I have also gained many qualifications such as first aid level 3, First Aid in the work place, how to manage family issues, and i am also currently doing a Health and Family well being course.”

Moving into supported housing has helped Daniel’s partner be independent with little things like knowing how to manage bills.

Help raise awareness

Thousands of people have gained their independence through supported housing. The Starts at Home campaign aims to ensure that people who need extra support will always have a home that meets their needs.
