Chris’ story

Chris takes a real sense of pride in his flat, with freshly decorated walls and the dozens of little details he chose to make this his perfect home.

When the home he’d lived in for nine years fell into disrepair, Chris Bell found that his physical and mental health were really suffering. His family were concerned about his future and were relieved when he was put forward as a suitable candidate for Willow Court, a brand new Karbon Homes supported living scheme in Benwell, Newcastle for people with a learning disability.

Chris was the first person to move into one of the 15 supported flats and quickly became the building’s biggest fan. He is always the first to tell new neighbours of the benefits of living at Willow Court, explaining the 24-hour Concierge Plus service that provides emergency support, monitors visitors within the building and helps the residents access local community facilities and transport.

Willow Court is Chris’s sanctuary; a cosy home to return to after a long day working as the main volunteer at Scope in Jarrow.

He takes a real sense of pride in his flat, with freshly decorated walls and the dozens of little details he chose to make this his perfect home. Chris now has new friends, a strong sense of security and a positive outlook for the future.
